Labor Day Weekend 2021 will be one to remember for a while for our family. Smokey air from the mountain fires and the onset of COVID-19 in the household, effecting my wife and then onto our kids. Somehow I’m still not sick from the virus (knock on wood). The doc says that the vaccine must have worked for me. Shannon is pulling through and the kiddos are slow and sad they will miss the first week of school. We also gave up a trip to see one of our family’s favorite band, Tame Impala at the Gorge. Pouty face and sadness — but we are pulling through.
I’ve hid in my garage during the holiday weekend, recording music. I would have had a show in Bend’s Northwest Crossing at Waypoint but the situation at home had me canceling. Unfortunately I wasn’t the only artist who called off their show with other local musicians and national acts like Brandi Carlile and Death Cab for Cutie calling their shows off due to the horrible smoky conditions.
I recorded a song about meeting my wife for the first time. You’ll get the context of the song later after I publish a post about the time I met her. While the family is up above me and I sit in the garage - it seemed to be fitting and timely to compose a song for her. Love you Shannon - Get well soon.
